This phenomenon is characterised by internal beating or ringing like sound. This to be a quiet background noise, or loudenough outsidesounds. Some Causes of tinnitusare: ** A sudden loud bang ornoise ** Excessive Earwax ** Acousticneuroma, ** Hypertension andatherosclerosis ** Severe anemia and renalfailure ** Palatalmyoclonus ** Thyroiddisorders ** Glomus jugularetumours ** LymeDisease ** Loss ofHearing ** Drugs: aspirin overdose, loop diuretics, aminoglycosides, quinine ** Injury to thehead

    5. ** Temporomandibular and cervical spinedisorders ** Suppurative otitis media (also chronic infection andserous OM) **Otosclerosis ** Impacted wisdomteeth ** Meniere'sdisease ** Arteriovenous fistulae and arterialbruits ** Stress anddepression Some but not all types of tinnitus can be treated. This leaves the non-treatable types permanent. There are no cures directly for tinnitus, but because often times tinnitus is caused by a physical condition that can be treated, the tinnitus may also dissapear as the physical condition dissapears. Permanent tinnitus can be very stressful psychologically to the affected individual as it distracts them affected from mental tasks and interferes with sleep. This is particularly when there is no externalsound. Often times these individuals will use a device that will generate an artificial noise to mask the tinnitussound. This process is called tinnitus retrainingtherapy. It is a widely known and practiced remedy to the it doesn't actually make the noise disappear, it alot less annoying and disturbing the personwho noise.Although makes thenoise isaffected; this makes the noise easier to ignore allowing the individualto concentrate on mentaltasks. Also, ears or sometimes itfeels yourhead. The Symptoms ofTinnitus Tinnitus is most commonly found in elderly people although possibly due to the different lifestyles it is becoming much more common in youngerpeoplenow. Maybe this is duetothe fact that people are living in noisier environmentstoday. The sounds which are heard vary from patient topatient. Some patients hear a musical tone, although most patients hear something which sounds more like a hissing or whistling or a buzzing or aringingnoise. For a lot of patients, it ismore of an inconvenience and doesn’t affect their daily lives although for a number of patients, it is so bad that theyneed some kind of treatment to relieve thesymptoms . The Causes ofTinnitus Tinnitusis (cochlea). brainwhich caused by damage to the nerves in the inner ear These nerves transmit electrical impulses to the the brain then interpretsassounds. Whenthese nerves are damaged, the signalbecomesdistorted. Whenthis distorted signal gets to the brain, the brain interprets it as a noise which isTinnitus.

Tinnitus is sometimes strongly relatedto the patients levelof via the useof the symptomsof stress. By managing this level ofstress sedatives, tranquilizers or anti-depressants, tinnitus can berelieved. Some drugs which affect the conduction of electrical impulsesin the affected nerves have been found to relieve the symptoms of stress. There are a number of self help measures which patients can employ either on their own or in tandem with any assistance that a doctorcanprescribe. These include listeningtosoothing music on a personal stereo before the patient goes tosleep. There are white noise generators which can mask the noise inside yourhead. This means that you can’t hear thenoisegenerated bytinnitus.

    8. Tinnitus Nearing EpidemicStatus Every year, millions of ordinary people with diverselifestyles, develop a ringing in their ears. The condition is called tinnitus. So many people are afflicted with tinnitus, that itis to assume it has become atop reasonable community. understood priority of themedical condition is not well Tinnitus is anon-life It may surpriseyou, and is currentlynot thatthe curable. threatening condition. 10. Tinnitus - The 3 EmotionalStages It is a vicious cycle because tinnitus causes stress and anxiety and is also worsened by stress and anxiety. Worrying over the tinnitus can cause it to become worse. Lack of sleep due to ringing in the ears leads to fatigue which makes the ear ringing worse. These are just some of the mental and emotional side effects oftinnitus. Expel tinnitus and the roller coaster ofemotions: At times it may be more annoying for people who do not know what is wrong with them or who have non-supportive doctors that tell them to "get over it" or to find a way to live withtinnitus. It is a vicious cycle because tinnitus causes stress and anxiety and is also worsened by stress and anxiety. Worrying over the tinnitus can cause it to become worse. Lack of sleep due to ringing in the ears leads to fatigue which makes the ear ringing worse. These are just some of the mental and emotional side effects oftinnitus. Many people with a hissing in the ears, like me, will discover that it completely interferes with natural essential functions of their lives. You may have a hard time concentrating, remembering things, listening to others and focusing on tasks. This makes it nearly impossible to function properly on a job or insociety. Many people with tinnitus go through the same process as people with other medical conditions and disorders. At first you may feel denial, then anger and frustration (especially if you are being told there is no cure and nothing will help) and then you may feel hopeless and depressed. You will think why this had to happen to you and harp on the fact that your life will never be the same. Next comesfear. You may worry that you will never live a normal life again, fear that this ringing in the ears will cause havoc with your job and your family, fear that you will never be able to enjoy the same things and fear that you are going crazy or that there is something mentally "wrong" with you. At some point along the way if you hope to find relief, you will need to findacceptance. Acceptance- With acceptance comes the realization that while you do have this condition and there is no cure for ear ringing, that doesn't mean you have to be a victim for the rest of yourlife. You will soon come to the realization that there is hope for your tinnitus and that you have stopped focusing on the ear ringing all the time you can allow your body to start the recovery. Also one should also take note of the fact that this roller coaster of emotions does not only effect the tinnitus sufferer but their families aswell.

    11. How Stress And Anxiety Are Connected ToTinnitus Stress can cause many problems and exacerbate others, including Tinnitus, or ringing in the ears. Many individuals suffer from this malady and can deal with it on a daily basis until stress levels rise and then the Tinnitus becomes significantlyworse. Of course, there are many different reasons why an individual may develop Tinnitus, but stress and anxiety can intensify the effects of the ringing in the ears. Because of this individuals with Tinnitus need to manage the stress in their lives to minimize theeffects. In general, when an individual suffers from tinnitus the body feels as if it is being attacked at all times. So, the effects are never-ending and the body ultimately responds in a physical way with additional problems like insomnia, anxiety, and even depression. Once these responses occur they only serve to intensify the tinnitus, which is just a violent circle. Because of this it is incredibly important for sufferers to find a way to relax and keep their symptoms at bay (as much as possible) instead of stressing out and exacerbating them. Of course, this is much easier to say than to actually implement. But, nevertheless, it is very important to make an effort toachieve. Sufferers of tinnitus know this very well and try their best not to stress out because the ringing in their ears only getsworse. It is unfortunate that tinnitus makes individuals stress out over their symptoms and then their stressing only causes their symptoms to worsen. Fortunately, for individuals with tinnitus there are ways to get stress under control before it gets out of hand and causes the individual worse ringing in their ears. One example of a way to reduce stress is to simply exercise. It has been proven that exercise really helps individuals relax, forget about what’s bothering them, and simply enjoy life. Those with tinnitus should exercise every single day in order to relax, forget about their ringing ears for just a bit, and hopefully relax enough to keep the symptoms from getting too bad. Another good option for reducing stress is to take part in yoga and meditation and even have a massage on a regularbasis. Nobody wants to have tinnitus and those who do certainly don’t want their symptoms to get any worse than they have to. Due to this individuals suffering from tinnitus should make all efforts to live a low key and relaxing life that has as little stress as possible. And, in addition to this tinnitus sufferers should do their best to exercise and take part in relaxation exercises to keep what stress they do have at bay. Many individuals suffer from tinnitus and of them approximately 90% experience exaggerated symptoms when subjected to stressfulsituations. Because of this individuals with tinnitus must do all they can in order to reduce stress in their lives so they may live an enjoyable life.

    12. Tinnitus: It's Not A Disease, It's ASymptom! If you have Tinnitus then you are most probably familiar with the most common causes.someof There is a whole list of them for you to choosefrom. Only when you start to analyze the known facts and their probable consequences will the whole scope of Tinnitus start tounfold. There can be a million reasons why you have Tinnitus. Let's take a brief look at some of the most common symptoms fortinnitus. How many of these symptoms can you apply to yourself? Add more if you haveto. Lack ofconcentration, Headaches, Fatigue, Social retreat, Depressivemoods, Lack ofpatience, Nervousness, Panic attacks, Anxiety, Apprehension, Stress andtension, Lack of selfconfidence, Insomnia, Exhaustion, Devaluation, Other than the hearing loss which is physical, all other symptoms listed here are of a subconsciousnature. Let's get 3 important things into perspectivehere. I will repeat these 3 sentences until they are tattooed into your soul. Tinnitus is not a disease, it is asymptom! You are not sick and you are not mentally ill. You are being warned! You will defeat tinnitus if you accept it as a part ofyou.

    13. As soon as you are ready to accept that the tinnitus is a part of you, the sooner you can expect to makeprogress. The power of the mind is extraordinary. Think about this carefully. If tinnitus succeeded in turning your life upsidedown then accept the fact that all it used to achieve misery was your own mind. That's quite an achievement isn't it? That's how powerful your mind is. If it has the capability to make your life a complete misery then surely it can be re-programmed todo theopposite. It's entirely up to you. The solution lies within yourself and your ability tolearn. What do we know about the causes of tinnitus?. Where does it have itsroots? Ever heard of social sickness? Me either. It's a phrase that I like though. Here in Germany it's called “Volkskrankheit “ ( has nothing to dowith cars). I once tried to compile a list of all elements which I suspected may have contributed to MY own tinnitus. Obviously, I listed the negative aspects of my life over a 10 yearperiod. Some of these things could have been avoided, most of them werelinked to each other. Don't forget, this is only a list of things that I think should bementioned. I've tried not to generalize and I've tried my best to stay honest, even if it means confessing to some badsins. To be perfectly honest it's not as dramatic as it looks. It just looks outrageous when writtendown! MaritalStress, Heavysmoking, Drug and medication abuse, (i.e. Valium, Marijuana,Cocaine) Relationship crisis, unhealthy eatinghabits, Loudnoises, Lack ofexercise, Highcholesterol, High blood sugarrate, Personalloss, Caffeine addiction ( coffee and cola) Lack ofsleep, FinancialProblems, Overweight, Businesspressures, Inclination to worry abouteverything. So......there we haveit.

    14. It looks terrible I know. The worst thing is that I am one of millions who used to live like this. If you can't identify with anything written on this list then you shouldn't have tinnitus. Any one of these elements on their own would be harmful enough for anyperson. Combine them and you're left with a time bomb waiting toexplode. So now we have two lists. The first one above describes the symptoms and the second one describes possible causes. If you look carefully at the causes it won't take much imagination to conjure up a "symptom list" like the one above. What else do youexpect?. I dare you......Take a pen and paper...write down your own "bad list". Be absolutely honest and write down all the things that you aren't proud of or maybe would rather forget. Write down all the things you would like to change if you had a magic wand. ( My bad list is there for everyone to see. You can hide yours:o) By the way, you don't have to have tinnitus to create a list like mine. I would be willing to bet that EVERYONE can come up with a list similar to mine. I say only similar because I know that not everyone is overweight, or smokes or trieddrugs. Think carefully about what you are reading on your list. If you are very honest, you will find that you don't need a magic wand to shorten this list. The only person on this planet that can change this list to something to be proud of isYOU! I consider myself to belucky. Tinnitus gave me a chance to re-shuffle my life. Once more...Don'tforget... Tinnitus is not a disease, it is asymptom. You are not sick and you are not mentally ill. You are being warned! You will defeat tinnitus if you accept it as a part ofyou. After an "auditory crash" two years ago which left me with a temporary loss of all hearing I had no other choice than to takeaction.

    15. I've been looking for an English Term for the German word Hörsturz. In fact this term is made of 2words. Hör (to hear ) and Sturz ( to crash ). I find this a fittingterm Anyway this "Auditory Crash" of hearing lasted almost 2 days at the most and thanks to my doctor, I was up and about a weeklater. After reading many books and collecting all the information Icould find, I decided to take action. I didn't know it then, but the decision to cut out everything that was harming me probably saved my life. Did you already write down your own list ? If not...let's imagine this is yourlist. Where do youstart? There are some things you can change straight away and without hesitation. Other things will require great patience, lots of time and the will tochange. "Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place you start" ( Richard Rodgers 1902 – 1979) Once more...Don'tforget... Tinnitus is not a disease, it is asymptom. You are not sick and you are not mentally ill. You are being warned! You will defeat tinnitus if you accept it as a part ofyou.

    16. Tinnitus: Preaching To The Choir In YourEars How much screaming will you tolerate before taking decisive action. I have learnt to preach to the choir in my ears. I did so because there came a time a when I realized that no one and nothing was going to rid me of mytinnitus. Just a small reminder of some of the therapies I have tried in order to find some peace and quite in my life: Acupuncture, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, infusions, Valium, Anti-depressants, orthodontic treatment, hearing aids, masking aids, "Tinnitus Re-Training" program, etc. I was asked to wear a specially designed corset to strengthen my back. I was asked to wear a brace by an orthodontic specialist. I have been advised to take Botox® and now I am being advised to try a new "Herbal Tinnitus Formula" which may or may not help relieve Tinnitus. To add to all this, I spent at least 6 weeks in a Tinnitus clinic for rehabilitation measures. I have been off work for almost 1 year and finally lost my job due to myabsence. Written down it all looks very dramatic and all in all, a pretty long story totell. These are the negative aspects I had to learn to accept and forget. These elements are history and must stay thatway. The most common thing that most Tinnitus victims share is the fact we will do practically anything to get rid of the screaming in our ears. We will believe anything we are told and follow all instructions. We believe because we trust what we are hearing and we all look forward to the day when our Tinnitus isgone. Unfortunately we are often left in despair and frustration when we realize that the above therapies don't work and in 90 % of all cases, have to admit that our Tinnitus is going to be a part of our every day lives. This is hard to accept foranyone. If you can established and accept this fact then you will become aware that the only way out of Tinnitus oblivion you're your own will. The cure lies withinyourself. Without stepping on too many toes, I must admit that the medical field did absolutely nothing to ease my Tinnitus. There are of course many theories as to why we get tinnitus and how to treat it but at the end of the day there isn't much that common medicine can do forus. There is away out of this hell and the only person that will make it happen is you. Ask yourself what you would do to get rid of yourown

    17. Tinnitus. We have already established that we would do anything to rid ourselves of thistorture. Tinnitus can be ignored. It's a simple trick. Like most tricks it has to be learnt andpracticed. One of my biggest dreams was learning to play the Didgeridoo. I went out and brought one and tried to teach myself to play it. After much frustration and days of trying to get a sound out of it, I finally succeeded. I got a looooong good sound out of it. It sounded really good. The only problem was that the sound diminished after 10 seconds because I had to breath IN The only sound that comes from a didgeridoo is when you breath OUT. The trick is something known as "circular breathing". In other words, breathing in and out at the sametime. Believe it or not, it's possible to breathe In and OUT at the same time and still live to tell the story. However, after weeks and weeks of practice, I learnt how to master "circularbreathing". I hope you can see the point I am trying to make. Learning to ignore Tinnitus is like learning to play the didgeridoo. It needs practice and willpower in able tosucceed. Please let me repeat this phrase once more because it is very important you understandthis. You can learn to ignore Tinnitus if you know how. Anyone can learn to ignoreTinnitus. Your mind has been finely tuned to ignore things its doesn't want to accept. This capability is evident in everyone alive. Think carefully, how many things do you forget or ignore because you don't likethem. Everyday we are confronted with elements we would ratherforget. Tinnitus is another one of them. Learn to reduce its importancy and concentrate more on enjoying qualitytime. Its absolutely vital you start realizing that Tinnitus is NOT a disease. You are not sick and you are not suffering from a mental disorder! You must get your life back on track again and start enjoying yourlife. Tinnitus is a power that can bemanipulated. Haven't you been manipulated enough already? Isn't it time you got yourself back into the driving seat and stated taking controlagain.

    18. You can't let something so unimportant as Tinnitus control your life. This defies alllogic! I did the same and managed to change my lifestylecompletely. I stopped smoking I lost 50 pounds in weight. I started to do work outs and go jogging I stopped worrying about Tinnitus In fact...I stopped worrying about things I couldn't change I wrote an e book and created a website devoted to living withTinnitus. All these things I did myself. No help from anyone .I used Tinnitus as a base of energy and manipulated it to meet my ownneeds. You know what?...I still have the choir in my ears and it is still loud at time, but here again so is life. The only difference now is that I am the preacher and I am incontrol. Happypreaching!

    19. Stop Tinnitus Symptoms And ReclaimSilence! • Tinnitus may affect more than half of the American population. A curable ailment within the inner ear canal, tinnitus is noticed by continual ringing, hissing & swishing noises in ears that will not subside. When you suffer from tinnitus, you will feel like you're insane and no one else can hear thenoises. • But you don't have to suffer – tinnitis symptoms arecurable. • 5 Small Steps To Silence TinnitusSymptoms: • Tinnitus symptoms may be common amongst more than twenty five percent of the American population. A curable ailment originating from problems in the inner ear canal, tinnitus is inherent with endless buzzing, ringing or swishing noises that never subside. When the levels of ear ringing are high, it can constitute feelings of insanity and leave you feeling all alone. But you don't have to feel isolated – noises in ears can be treated and homeopathic treatments have helped many sufferers ease thepain. • tinnitis symptoms can come in a single episode, temporarily for a few days or weeks, or for good. The noises in ears can interfere with an individual's ability to concentrate and may also cause sleep disturbance with the noises inears. • General tinnitis symptoms andCauses • Immense ear wax. When excess wax builds up in the ear canal, it can weaken the ability to hear outside noises and may worsen noises in ears. • Otis media is the medical term for a middle ear infection or inflammation of the middle ear. If left undiagnosed or untreated, Otis media can lead to infection of the mastoid bone behind the ear, a ruptured ear drum, and hearing loss. Sometimes, tinnitus symptoms begin again following a middle earinfection. • Brain or head injury. General symptoms of a brain or head injury include loss of consciousness, confusion, drowsiness, personality change, seizures, nausea, headache and vomiting. Roughly 25% of individuals who sustain a brain or head trauma, experience tinnitis symptoms following theinjury. • Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that affects balance and hearing. The tinnitus experienced by Meniere's patients is continual and does not subside with time, although its levels may vary. • Otosclerosis is an abnormal bone growth in the middle ear that causes noises in ears. About 75% of people with otosclerosis also experience tinnitissymptoms.

    20. Weak Circulation may be an indication of a serious heart disorder. Common symptoms of poor circulation include cold hands and feet, white fingers, dizziness when standing quickly, numbness, varicose veins, migraine headaches, tinnitus and noises inears. • High Blood Cholesterol: High blood cholesterol clogs arteries that supply oxygen to the nerves of the inner ear. Lowering blood cholesterol levels may reduce tinnitissymptoms. • A helpful tinnitusfact: • Ginkgo biloba has been known to help symptoms of tinnitus as well as depression and yourmemory. • 5 Steps To Silence - Ease Common TinnitusSymptoms • Avoid all loud sounds and noisyplaces. • Avoid total silence try and mask the tinnitus with whitenoise. • Avoid exorbitant use of alcohol, caffeine, oraspirin. • Wear ear protection when using chain saws, guns, lawn mowers, loud music or power tools. Exposure to loud noises can make tinnitus worse and can also cause additional hearingloss. • Control stress levels and learn how to relax in stressful situations. • Most people with tinnitus also suffer from anxiety and lack of sleep. At night when all is quiet, the ringing in your ears may sound louder, making it harder to sleep. The lack of sleep, in turn makes you more tired during the day which increases your anxiety and stress. Poor sleep induces depression, negative thoughts and a resultant higher level of anxiety and tinnitussymptoms.

    21. Maidenhair TreeTinnitus For those of you who are unaware of what tinnitus is, let me just say that it is a constant buzzing of one or both ears. This buzzing of the ears can be a symptom of something more serious such as the loss of hearingability. For people who suffer from this condition, it is really annoying and they are trying to find new ways and new medicines to get rid of their problem once and for all. More than twenty years ago a doctor carried out a research to understand the causes of tinnitus and he came up with a simple and natural solution to treat the condition. He gave patients a daily dose of a product that contained ginkgo and he was able to improve their hearing condition by 35%. Some other patients who were losing their ability to hear because of their age experienced a significant improvement in their hearing condition thanks to the intake of maidenhair treeproducts. In a more recent research, scientists were able to demonstrate that two doses of 150 mg on a daily basis of maidenhair tree tinnitus product can enhance the condition of patients who suffer from the buzzing ear condition. Maidenhair tree tinnitus products are the best ally for people because they are generally not costly when compared to traditional medicines for the same purpose and because it does not have any negative effects on theirwell-being. The results vary from patient to patient, but it is known that you will notice an improvement if you follow the treatment for twelve weeks or more. The reason why maidenhair tree products are useful to treat tinnitus is because they have two vital components: vitamin P and lactone. Vitamin P is good to fight off free radicals because it works as anantioxidant. Lactone is good because it will rev up your protoplasm and you blood circulation willimprovesignificantly. One thing youneedto consider is that maidenhair tree products are not always beneficial foreverybody. Some patients will have a good response to the ginkgo tinnitus treatment while other may not respond at all. However, as the ginkgo products do not have negative effects for your health you do not have to worry because if you do not improve your hearing condition at least you won't be making itworse.

    22. Tinnitus: Therapy? You Are TheCure! How much screaming will you tolerate before taking decisiveaction. I have learnt to preach to the choir in my ears.

    24. Tinnitus is a power that can be manipulated. Haven't you been manipulated enough already? Isn't it time you got yourself back into the driving seat and stated taking controlagain. You can't let something so unimportant as Tinnitus control your life. This defies alllogic! I did the same and managed to change my lifestyle completely. I stopped smoking I lost 50 pounds in weight. I started to do work outs and go jogging I stopped worrying about Tinnitus In fact…I stopped worrying about things I couldn't change I wrote an e book and created a website devoted to living withTinnitus. All these things I did myself. No help from anyone .I used Tinnitus as a base of energy and manipulated it to meet my ownneeds. You know what? I still have the choir in my ears and it is still loud at time, but here again so is life. The only difference now is that I am the preacher and I am incontrol.
