About SaskEnergy • SaskEnergy is Saskatchewan’s nature gas utility • Serve 365,000 business and industrial customers • 1,086 full time equivalent positions • Employees in 55 locations • Serve more than 92% of the Province through an 83,000 km pipeline network • 70% unionized - Unifor Local 649

  3. Current Aboriginal Representation • Employee Representation • 15.7 % of employees are Aboriginal at SaskEnergy/TransGas. Sask.Human Rights census report lists SK Aboriginal population at 13.9% • Represented throughout our organization • 13% Executive • 6% Professional/Mgmt • 15% Clerical/Admin • 19% Tech/Trade • Hiring Approach • Entry into an organization is multi-pronged, hiring efforts need to reflect this

Recruitment Initiatives • Partnerships • Prince Albert Grand Council • Saskatoon Tribal Council and • File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council • Induction training for entry level field field staff positions done by Saskatchewan Indian Institute of 2013 PAGC Partnership Signing Technologies and Dumont Technical Institute • Gradworks Internship Program • Partnership with U of S – Aboriginal Student Centre, Edwards School of Business, developed Grad Works for management intake • Youth Programs • Summer Student Program • 25% +consistently over several years • 15% of community investment contributed to aboriginal initiatives (includes scholarships)

Retention Initiatives • SAGE (SaskEnergy Aboriginal Government Employees) • Aboriginal employees who support and mentor new employees and introduce initiatives aimed at evolving the workplace • Networking benefits, support, leadership opportunities • Executive Support • SaskEnergy’s Executive Team champion Aboriginal initiatives • Aboriginal Strategic Direction Team: • Doug Kelln, President & CEO • Dean Reeve, Executive Vice President • Colleen Huber, Vice President, Corporate Support • Robert Haynes, Vice President, Human Resources • Gillis Lavalley, Manager, Aboriginal Relations • Leadership Development Program • Structured to include consideration for diverse candidates

Challenges • Geography remains a challenge • Candidates expectations today are different • For example, no desire to work away from home, subject to call-out/standby • Accept a job versus my dream career • Individuals with “key skills” are in demand • Particularly professional designations • Resourcing levels are relatively flat
