  1. Phorids in Alabama Since 1998, three species of phorid fly - Pseudacteon curvatus, Pseudacteon tricuspis, and Pseudacteon litoralis - have been released in Alabama as biological control agents for imported fire ants. The decapitating flies have been released in fourteen Alabama counties in an effort to aid in fire ant management.
