Grammar. in a nutshell. # 4. Past. In chapter 1, 2 and 3 we talked about the past simple : in chapter 4 you were studying the past continuous . In the past continuous you use ‘was’ or ‘ were ’ and the verb + ‘ ing ’ . I was hav ing dinner . They were hav ing dinner .
