  1. Tips For Parents In Helping Their Child With Their Math Lessons

  2. Students are not the only ones intimidated by the thought of mathematics; parents too. However, as a parent, you always make an effort to learn each lesson so that you can help your child figure out math. Now that you know how to solve your child’s math problems, the next step is to teach it to them.

  3. Be encouraging in a positive way. Steer clear of the negative comments when trying to teach and encourage your child during math lessons. Being a math person does not depend on genetics or talent; it’s all about practice and being optimistic about the subject.

  4. Integrate math into simple topics. Young children are very bright, and when interested, they can talk for hours. Use this opportunity to integrate math into your conversations. This does not mean that you have to open math books and start quizzing them with math problems. Instead, show them how math can be seen in everyday life.

  5. Allow your kids to ask math questions that interest them or be open to questions about topics they are having difficulty with. This is a crucial time for you as a parent to cultivate their math interest, especially now that classes are done online and they are at home a lot. So, instead of saying, “You should know this by now,” try and answer their questions and be sure to note it when you are also having trouble with the same topic.

  6.  Let your child teach you math instead of the other way around. When teaching your child math, find an opportunity to let them explain it to you instead. Other than improving their knowledge in math, they are also improving their communication skills. There will also be times that you as a parent will genuinely have difficulty with a particular topic. This is another great opportunity for you and your child to work together. They could provide you insights about their solutions, and you can also provide your own until you can both finally solve the problem.

  7. Other than the tips mentioned above, you may also enroll your child in online math classes offered by after school learning centers like Izumi Philippines. We offer fun and effective online math classes for your child using the Japanese-Standard Curriculum. Book a free trial class today at https://ph.izumi-education.com/booking/.
