  2. The Importance of Studying • It requires studying for anyone to learn something new or to master a subject. • Studying is PROGRAMMED learning. • Studying is your ticket to the next level.

  3. A Studying Perspective • YES, your attitude affects your view of studying. -Think positively about studying. -Think of studying as a job or duty. -Focus on the positive aspects of studying- LEARNING, MENTAL GROWTH, INTELLECTUAL IMPROVEMENT!

  4. The Secrets to Having Good Study Skills • SECRET #1….The Setting -Be comfortable….but, not too comfortable. -Work at a clean desk or table. -Keep regular study hours. -Avoid distractions. -Form a study group if it is appropriate. -Get up and stretch if you feel tired.

  5. Secrets…. • Secret #2…..Time Management -Use a calendar to keep track of deadlines, tests, due dates, study times, etc. -Schedule time to complete your assignments.

  6. Secrets…. • SECRET #3….Test Preparation -Review your notes -Look up things you do not understand. -Study test material in 15 minute sessions in a two week period. -PLAN your study time.

  7. Secrets…. • SECRET #4….The Library -The library has a lot of resources to help you study: *Computer databases *Indexes *Dictionaries *The Internet * Books

  8. Secrets….. • SECRET #5….Physical & Mental balance -Get enough sleep -Exercise regularly -Have fun regularly -Eat balanced meals -Take time to relax

  9. What????? • You thought it was BRAIN SURGERY??? • Gaining Study skills takes commitment from you, NOT difficult, just habit forming!
