  1. Expect the Best. Job Specification Full Time Quality Checker What is Expect the Best? ‘Expect the Best’ is a new quality checking project. It checks how well care services across North West London are doing their job. We want to make sure that people with learning disabilities and other disabled people are getting good care that is right for them. We are looking for 2 full time quality checkers. You will work in either: Hammersmith and Fulham Mencap (covering, Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Kensington and Chelsea) OR Harrow Mencap (covering Harrow, Barnet and Brent) We will employ 1 person for each area. Expect the Best October 2013

  2. You will work between 35 and 37 hours a week. You will be paid £15,925 per year. What will you do? You will visit care services including care homes and day services to check the quality of care that they are providing for their clients. You will work with a team of trained sessional quality checkers, including people with learning disabilities and carers. You will assist sessional quality checkers to correctly record data using a computer. You will record data gathered at quality checks and feedback information to the relevant people. You will be a main point of contact for the sessional quality checkers during your working hours You will work within the safeguarding vulnerable adults guidelines and be aware of procedures.   3. Person Specification – You will need to have the following skills Knowledge or experience of care services. A good understanding of issues faced by people with learning disabilities and other disabled people receiving care. Ability to communicate well with people who have learning disabilities, other disabled people and those who may not use words to communicate. Good ability to use a computer. Able to send emails and use Microsoft office. Ability to travel independently across the 3 Boroughs that you will be working in. Be passionate about making positive changes in the lives of disabled people. Expect the Best October 2013

  4. An understanding of safeguarding and willingness to learn new things. You must be trustworthy and able to handle confidential information. An ability to work on your own and use your initiative. An ability to work as part of a team and be line managed by your team leader.
