EXPECTATIONS • Communicate with Right Track staff as needed • Document and report all work-related accidents within 24 hours • Submit time cards for all of your Right Track workers by the end of the day Friday each pay period • Abide by all Child Labor Laws • Document and report issues related to youth performance as needed • Complete a mid and end of school year assessment for all of your Right Track workers • No worker starts until all required Right Track paperwork has been turned in and you have been notified by Right Track staff regarding start date for your workers

  4. EXPECTATIONS • Provide a high quality work experience that is safe, well supervised, and meaningful • Create an environment that is welcoming - where your workers can develop professionally • Provide meaningful work readiness training • Provide/support certificate-earning opportunities

  5. CHILDLABORLAWS Right Track workers ages 16 – 17 years old cannot work during school hours, and must be done with work by 11pm on school nights. Ages 14 – 15 cannot work past 7pm. Plan to hire accordingly.

  9. HOW TO KEEP YOUTH ENGAGED 30+ WEEKS OF WORK -- KEEP THINGS FRESH, INTERESTING, AND MEANINGFUL – CHALLENGE THEM! • What’s worked, what hasn’t worked, what will you commit to doing this year?

WAYS TO PROVIDE A MORE IMPACTFUL WORK EXPERIENCE • Provide leadership roles for returning youth to mentor/coach new youth • Invite Right Track workers to staff meetings or community meetings • Explain the budget, funding sources, revenue targets • Provide project based work opportunities – run an event, develop a community outreach plan, inventory sports uniforms • Provide developmental feedback for your workers at the mid-year and end of session dates

  11. IF THINGS DON’T GO AS PLANNED: Managing Youth Performance

  12. Possible infractions or areas of concern that may require coaching or discipline • Arriving late repeatedly • Attendance – no call/no show • Attitude & behavior on the job • Sloppy appearance • Unwillingness to complete tasks & assignments • Constantly on cell phone

Some infractions are of a more serious nature which may result in immediate termination: • Theft • Fighting • Sexual harassment • Insubordination • Physical/verbal abuse • Chemical/substance abuse • Non-compliance with City of Saint Paul policies ** Notify Right Track staff right away if these behaviors occur**

  15. If an employee is injured at work, please follow the Work-Related Injury Procedures: • Treat the injury and administer First-Aid as needed. If medical attention is necessary, seek care from a HealthPartners provider, preferably the Saint Paul clinic, 205 S. Wabasha Street. • Complete a First Report of Injury • Complete a Supervisor’s Safety Report • Complete an Employee’s Safety Report FORMS are located on the Right Track web page – Supervisor Hub – YJ1 – under ‘Safety’. If you cannot locate them, contact Right Track staff. Paperwork must be reported and email/faxed to Randy Graff within 24-hours of the injury. Randy.Graff@ci.stpaul.mn.us & 651-632-5115 (fax)

  17. PAPERWORKNEEDED • New Workers Only:  how many folks in the room will be hiring new workers? • Online Intake Form (for youth) • Income Affidavit/Permission Slip • Workforce One Form • Payroll Packet • Current/Returning Workers: • Let us know of any changes (address, phone, email, etc)

Timecards are due every other Friday -- RT will email reminders when timecards are due • Right Track pays youth minimum wage - currently $9.65/hr • Right Track time cards are submitted online bi-weekly using the City of Saint Paul’s TASS system • Supervisors are responsible for one time pick-up and distribution of Focus cards (for new workers only) • Pay stubs will be mailed to youth at the home address provided by the young person in their payroll packet unless notified of a change

  19. TASS Password… • My User Profile is where you update your TASS password. • The New/Confirm Password fields are arranged differently. • No change in function. Use temp1 as your password Next

  20. Process for submitting elapsed time cards: Click on Review, then Review Documents. Click on Elapsed Autofill to the right of each employee’s name. This will open the time card.

  21. 3. Click the ‘Get’ button to change all fields from blue to white so you can write into them.

  22. 4. Choose ‘Regular’ under the pay code column and then enter total hours worked for each date of the pay period. You must use quarter hour increments (.25, .5, .75). Hit ‘Submit’ when complete.

  23. 6. Hit ‘Submit’ again to push it past the certification page and finalize the timecard processing.

  25. Lost or Stolen Focus Cards: • Youth must call 1-877-474-0010 to order a replacement card. Cards are sent to the youth’s home address within 7 – 10 business days. Employment Verification Forms: • Forms should be mailed, faxed or emailed to Parks Payroll. • Please make sure the youth has signed the form and the caseworker contact information is listed.

IMPORTANT DATES • ASAP – Submit Right Track worker names to Dan Aliperto • September 17 – Start date for workers – IF all required paperwork is in • October 15 – The last day to fill open positions until January 14 • February 15 – No new Right Track workers for school year after this date • (Tentatively) December 18th – January 10th - Provider Application for Summer 2019 • February 1st – March 1- Youth Application for Summer • May 10th – Last Day of Right Track School Year Session
