  1. Welcome to 5th Grade!We are Team Determination!!! Mrs. Jaimie HammondMr. Chad RitcheyMs. Jessica SmithMrs. Melody Wolfe Our philosophy is that all children can and will learn. We believe the students will be successful if home and school work together. Together we can encourage them to find their strengths and overcome their weaknesses.

  2. Mr. Dennis ReardonMrs. Kristin Myers • Our team Learning Support teacher and aide • They will be working with all students whenever individualized help is needed • They will assist in all classrooms on our team

  3. Organization • Students will have a folder for each subject and a homework folder. • Materials in each folder will be used to help students prepare for upcoming assessments. • The students will purge materials as directed by the classroom teacher. (usually at the end of a chapter) • All papers are to be stored in appropriate folders……NOT in textbooks.

  4. Science • Students will have science every day for half of the marking period.. • Mr. Ritchey will be the primary science teacher. • Reviewing notes in the science folder or on-line will be important.

  5. Social Studies • Students will have social studies every day for half of the marking period. • Mrs. Wolfe will be the primary social studies teacher. • We will have several cross-curricular units where the entire team is focused on a specific theme.

  6. Math • We will continue to flex group for math as needed. Students will be placed with peers who share similar abilities for specific concepts. • This is our second year of My Math: Program is based on new Common Core Standards.

  9. 40 Book Reading Challenge: Expectations: *GOAL---to read 40 books of various types/genres by the end of the year *Record title and have an adult initial the box as you finish each type of text *If your book is longer than 350 pages, it counts as 2 books

  12. Communication • Team webpage: Homework will be updated daily on our team webpage. (Team Determination) • E-mail: Please check daily. Almost everything is sent home via e-mail. • Phone: Will be used for addressing larger issues like behavior or homework. .

  14. Remember… YOU are the BIGGEST influence on your child!(Believe it or not!) Your attitude about school has a direct impact on your child’s attitude and performance. The more positive and supportive you are about school, the more your child will value his/her education.
