  3. A SAVING ENERGY BY REDUCING THE PRODUCTION OF RAW MATERIALS (PLASTIC, GLASS) - Soap on Tap - New Unpacked Foods- Reduce packaging Experiences: Sundsvall September 2009

  4. THE “SOAP ON TAP” PROJECT ‘Soap on tap’ is a project developing actions aimed at sensitizing citizens in order to protect environment. insert in the large-scale retail trade the home detergents unpacked sale. OBJECTIVE: Cost of the project: 500.000 € for year

THE “SOAP ON TAP” PROJECT - Optimize energy - Decrease carbon dioxide emissions - Reduction waste REUSABLE DETERGENTS BOTTLES MEANS: Every family could save on average: 10 kg of plastic bottles 225 kWh of energy utilised producing and disposing of waste. The project has been carrying out with the collaboration of ECOLOGOS (Research Centre ) www.detersivisfusi.it Good example of P.P.P. (Public Private Partnership) Sundsvall September 2009

Results: 34 points of unpacked sale on 16 project's months. 12 brands involved • Projects results: 89.000 refilled bottles 240.000 litres of detergents issued LAZIOREGION • Saved resources: 230 MWh of energy 21 million of litres of water 15 ton of carbon dioxide not emitted • Future goal: 100 points of unpacked sales within the end of 2011 Sundsvall September 2009

  8. New Unpacked Foods The interest on unpacked detergents sale, got to carry out a feasibility study on possibility for new unpacked foods sale. The study checked current laws and possibilities and identified raw milk like the right product to be sold “on tap” to the whole of Region. The milk should be supplied directly from local farmers. With the “milk on tap”: 20 kg of saved matter 60 kWh of not utilized energy(for an average family in a year)‏ Sundsvall September 2009

  9. “Reduce-Packaging project” The project aim is to involve Local Municipalities of Lazio Region into specific projects in order to reduce consumption of energy connected to production and packaging's disposal. Objective: Operate on different targets: families, restaurants, shops and public places. Result: In the first months of 2009, the Municipality of Oriolo Romano joined the project. Now, there are other 9 municipalities that subscribed the project. COSTS: the overall amount is 350.000 € www.riducimballi.it Sundsvall September 2009

  10. SOME ACTIVITIES OF“REDUCE-PACKAGING PROJECT” Installation of public fountains flowing cool sparkling and smooth mineral water also to valorize a common resource. Distribution across local district shops and revaluation of proximity trade. Introduction of washables and reusables nappies.

Call for Tender “Efficiency improvement of the public lighting and traffic lights network” The procedure is divided into two steps: Step 1 - Checking (energy audit) of the state of the art of the plant - Contribution is 100% of eligible expenses within the limits set by the call. Amount available: € 2.500.000,00 Step 2 - Contribution is 15% for energy efficient operations through ESCO service ( Energy Service Company). Amount available: € 10.000.000,00 Sundsvall September 2009

Call for Tender “Efficiency improvement of the public lighting and traffic lights network” • THE ENERGY EFFICIENT OPERATIONS ARE: • networks of public lighting with photovoltaic streetlights • reducing consumption of electricity for the provision of service of public lighting by replacing with energy saving bulbs keeping the same luminous flux emission • replacement of traffic light systems with LED systems or photovoltaic lights • Installations of telecontrol equipment on street light networks Sundsvall September 2009

Call for contribution “Efficiency improvement of private residential existing buildings sited in Lazio Region” • Total amount available € 5.500.000,00 • Contribution is 40% of eligible expenses • Only for replacement of windows, inclusive of frames, the contribution is 20% Sundsvall September 2009

Call for contribution “Efficiency improvement of private residential existing buildings sited in Lazio Region” Energy-efficiency actions admitted to incentives are: • Building interventions to improve thermal characteristics and to improve the thermal transmittance of windows (double glazed windows) • Installing solar panels to produce hot sanitary water and heating • Installing condensing boilers or high efficiency heat pumps, or low enthalpy geothermal plants • Re-powering of the buildings efficiency: combined actions ones points above (1,2,3), to improve the 'index of energy performance” Sundsvall September 2009

PRO-STO/SEC-Bench/More4nrg Pro-STO, spreading solar thermal obligations in Municipalities by sensitizing local policy makers, Municipal administrative staff and experts Sec-Bench, collecting data on energy consumption in municipal building by involving local authorities and doing a benchmark for energy efficiency at European scale. More4Energy, exchanging best-practices on policies for sustainable energy and contributing to enhance strategies of other European regions by peer-reviewing regional legal and financial frameworks.
