  1. Introduction to Unit Standard 3727 TITLE: Demonstrate knowledge of Pacific Island countries as tourist destinations 8 Credits

  2. Method of this assessment There is no booklet so we will be collecting information similar to the drafts we did for the first assessment. This is a big assessment – You cannot afford to take any days off.

  3. Introduction • Locating 8 main tourist islands in the Pacific - Fiji, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Norfolk Island • Attractions, activities, events available • Services available - Rental cars, accommodation etc. • Travel products - Wallet and passport pouch, sunscreen etc. • Travel information - Time differences, currency etc.

  4. Task 1: • Get a piece of refill • Write Task 1 and your name at the top of the page • Draw up a table like the one below • Go around the class and write peoples names into each box

  5. Task 2: • Use the main map to locate the following countries on the blank map : Fiji, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Norfolk Island • Use the coloured pencils to shade each area.

  6. Task 3: • Get another piece of refill • Write Task 3 and your name at the top of the page • Draw up a table like the one below • Use the International dateline handout provided to fill in the chart

  8. Task 5 PURPOSE: YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE GATEWAY CITY • Go to google maps • Get directions from the gateway city/town to the airport • Draw a rough sketch of the 9 different maps
