Six Days of Creation • Day 1: God created light – vs 3-5 • Day 2: God created the atmosphere, and seas – vs 6-8 • Day 3: God created the land and plants – vs 7-13 • Day 4: God created the sun, moon and stars – vs 14-19 • Day 5: God created the sea creatures and the flying creatures – vs 20-23 • Day 6: God created all land creatures and humans – vs 24-27

The Hebrew word -- baqa, "burst or rent open" -- used other places to refer to the geological phenomena of faulting. Psalms 104:8 says, "The mountains rose up; the valleys sank down." Oceans deepened due to the weight of water running off the land surfaces into them. With the stupendous weight of new runoff water on the earth's mantle, mountains were uplifted. And, with land masses still unconsolidated, continents may have split off and drifted rather rapidly on the earth's mantle to new locations.
