Competencies • Improve the quality of training centres through benchmarking • Encourage professional dialogue and support, thus the opening of EU rail training market • Investigate the potential for development of common courses or common core competencies  Support innovation and cross-border vocational training to support interoperability Competencies  Discuss Training policy issues  training needs on a macro level –focus is on the issue of skill (competence)  Manage employee development • Activities • - European network rail training centres • Today’s e-learning workshop is an initiative of the network • Workforce development group

  4. e-learning activity : Background 2001: seminar “training and new technologies” 2002 to 2005: e-rail project was the starting point for railway collaboration (concrete outputs) at the European level and promoting e-Learning as a part of the learning environment in European railway organizations. eLearning club established in January 2006

  5. e-learning club : Missions and means • Missions • Harmonise the use of e-learning in railway companies Make Economies of scale by creating synergies • Promote different ways of training as a means to improve its quality • Establish more cost effective education in the railway sector • Investigate the potential for development of common courses or common core competencies

  6. e-learning club : Missions and means • How? • Sharing knowledge and experiences between members • Producing « easy to use » tools for the railway trainers community (decision making tool for IT based training ; standards of competencies for e-trainers; navigation interface for e-learning courses; e-trainers’ course,.. ) • Creating best practices guides in railway e-learning • Developing expertise network (and chance for further EU financing)
