  2. Background to N3 Voice Services • In N3 Contract originally as Voice Consultancy Service • Purpose solely to drive efficiencies into NHS • Planned to run from 2004-2007 • N3 Contract is for a Converged WAN and VoIP services included in scope

  4. VoIP services development • N3SP unable to validate savings to required level • CFH agreement to use un validated savings to develop VoIP services at supplier cost • Agreement reached in September 2006 for services to commence availability from April 2007

An upgrade to Catalogue Service N3-6-1 (Core Network) to support VoIP traffic originating from an N3 connected Site; • A geo-resilient central fixed-to-mobile & PSTN gateway (“the F2M/PSTN Gateway”); • A geo-resilient Core Network VoIP switching platform (“the CNVS Platform”); • Ongoing management of the F2M Gateway and the CNVS Platform VoIP Services development

N3 Voice Services • Local Gateway Service (DPNSS) • Enables traditional TDM PBXs to connect to the N3 Network using a cascades router (Cisco 2811) connected to the Data Service CPE • Underlying Data Catalogue Services which currently Support Voice • N3-2-24 (2Mb) 10 Channels Only • N3-2-25 (2Mb) 10 Channels Only • N3-2-26 (10Mb) 10-30 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • N3-2-27 (10Mb) 10-30 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • N3-2-28 (100Mb) 10-60 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • N3-2-29 (100Mb) 10-90 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • N3-2-54 (2Mb) 10 Channels Only • N3-2-56 (10Mb) 10-30 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • Business Continuity is provided using Alternate routing on the PBX using existing ISDN connections • Local Gateway Service (H.323) • Enables IP PBX which support H.323 to be connected to the N3 Network, via H.323. gateway. Currently only the Cisco Call Manager is supported, but type testing of other suppliers is planned • LGS H.323 is supported on all of the same underlying Catalogue Services as LGS DPNSS

N3 Voice Services • Hosted Voice Service • Provides a managed Voice service for new sites or existing sites where the capacity on the existing PBX is exhausted • Underlying Data Catalogue Services which currently Support the Hosted Voice Service • N3-2-24 (2Mb) 10 Channels Only • N3-2-25 (2Mb) 10 Channels Only • N3-2-26 (10Mb) 10-30 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • N3-2-27 (10Mb) 10-30 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • N3-2-28 (100Mb) 10-60 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • N3-2-29 (100Mb) 10-90 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • N3-2-54 (2Mb) 10 Channels Only • N3-2-56 (10Mb) 10-30 Channels in 10 Channel Increments • Business Continuity can be provided using a Secondary Data Connection for those underlying data catalogue services which are symmetrical i.e. N3-2-26, n3-2-27, N3-2-28 & N3-2-29. for the other Hosted Voice services the CFUR (Call Forwarding Un-Registered) capability allows an alternative number (mobile or PSTN number) to be designated to which calls will be diverted should a failure of the access circuit or CPE cause the handset to go ‘Un-Registered’ • CFUR can also be used as a ‘belt & braces’ option for those HVS Services with a secondary Voice Connection

  10. N3 Voice Services • HVS Over IPstream • Provides a alternative Voice solution for small to medium sites where the existing data connection is NOT sufficient to support both Data and Voice. Currently being trialled in NEL and HOB. • Pre-requisites – • As with any IPstream offering will be subject to factors such as distance from exchange and may not be offered if bandwidth isn’t sufficient • Must have already a N3 Data Catalogue service • Supports up to a maximum of 8 Voice Channels (simultaneous calls) and 40 handsets • Business Continuity can be provided using CFUR (Call Forwarding Un-Registered) capability allows an alternative number (mobile or PSTN number) to be designated to which calls will be diverted should a failure of the access circuit or CPE cause the handset to go ‘Un-Registered’

N3 Voice Service • Extension Mobility • Extension Mobility users can log on to any Cisco 7941 or Cisco 7961 handset and it will immediately have all the capabilities and the functions they have on their ‘home’ handset including soft key definitions, Class of Service (call barring) etc. This is currently restricted to the same call manager cluster. • Business Continuity • As previously mentioned CFUR and Dual Voice Connection (for underlying Symmetrical data services are already supported. • In addition SRST (Survivable Remote Site Telephony) with/without Local PSTN access will be launched shortly • A separate Dedicated HVS over IPstream service with its own dedicated handsets could be used to provide an alternative fallback site

N3 Voice Service • Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) • SRST is a licensed product which runs on a CISCO router enabling that router to take on limited functionality of a Call Manager in the failure scenario where the connection to the N3 Network has been lost. • SRST on it’s own allows internal calls within that site to be made to and from all handsets which have been designated SRST handsets. • To provide resilience the SRST router is hosted on a free LAN port on the Customer’s or N3 supplied LAN switch. • Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) with Local PSTN Access • For sites with existing PSTN connections by upgrading the SRST router hardware to include as appropriate a BRI or PRI card (for ISDN2/30 connection) the router can be configured in such away that should the site become isolated from N3 Network, calls could continue to be made and receive via the local PSTN connection. • In addition those handsets not included in the list of designated SRST handsets could have CFUR (Call Forwarding Un-Registered) to point either to a PSTN or mobile number or alternatively to one of the SRST enabled handsets extension number.
