  2. Breaking News • Foothill Knolls is now a Tech Magnet School. • Breakfast served for all students at 8:00 am. • We have a new Harvest of the Month program. Students will be tasting various locally grown produce.

  3. Our Class Rules • Make a good decision • Solve the problem • Show respect

  4. Communication • My phone number is 949-7740, ext. 124. • Planners – Please continue to check and initial planners daily. • Email: Monica_MacAuley@upland.k12.ca.us

  5. Homework • Students are responsible for making up homework. Make up homework is due the following morning. • Homework is credit/no credit and based upon the percentage of homework completed. • Homework is assigned each day except for Friday. No planner should be blank.

  6. Accelerated Reader • Students should be reading 20-30 minutes per night. • AR is part of your student’s report card reading grade. Meeting the goal earns a grade of an “A” for the AR portion of overall reading grade. • You can log on to AR from home and check your child’s progress.

  7. Startling Statistics

  8. Math • We are currently in transition to the CCSS. Math resources include the adopted math textbook, CCSS bridge materials, and Accelerated Math (remediation and enrichment). • Math homework is strictly credit/no credit. Your child’s math homework grade is the percentage of homework turned in. • Students who do not know multiplication facts will find Math especially difficult. PLEASE WORK ON THEM AT HOME.

  9. Organizational Skills • Daily class rotations will require forethought and increased organizational skills. PLEASE REINFORCE THESE SKILLS AT HOME! • Please do not throw out papers in planners until after each trimester. Quiz/Test study guides may be part of your child’s notebook.

  12. Extras • Scholastic Book Orders - will go home monthly: I prefer to have exact cash or checks sent in and paid to: Scholastic, Inc. • The UUSD School Board strictly prohibits desserts brought in for birthdays.
