Personalising content • Stimulate new marketplaces & business models • Two project lines: • Enable (small) organisations to create personal content for target users (consumers) • Stimulate new Web services providing content-driven services for large communities • Application domains: advertising, profiling... • Full applications as well as smaller feasibility projects (proof of concept) • Interoperability, consumer protection and privacy, business models ...

Access to culture and science • Better access for citizens & professionals • Advanced digital library applications • navigation, search and retrieval for inter-operable access to distributed resources • International science collaboratoria • standards, tools and servers for collaborative analysis of scientific data • User-driven approach involving institutional actors • Integration, demonstration, test-beds… • Collaboration with national & international prog‘s Safegarding culture

School of tomorrow • Improve ICT-driven learning in primary and secondary schools • Scope • advanced learning environments and materials • cognitive activities (autonomy, creativity, team work) • solutions for mobile learning (remote access) • Organisational reengineering and pedagogical and socio-economic evaluation • Large scale demonstrations

The learning citizen • New approaches for Life Long Learning • Targets individuals outside formal education and training settings • Scope: • managing personal learning processes • brokerage of learning services (assessment) • Demonstrations, including user evaluations and best practice definition

Natural interactivity • Addresses people to data/systems and people to people • Aim is to increase “naturalness” • Emphasis on: • user/information interfaces • multimodal dialogues • highly conversational systems • Provide platform for multidisciplinary collaborations (speech, language, cognition, vision, etc.) • Enabling and applied research (showcases)

Cross-lingual information management • Extract knowledge from digital texts, messages, AV objects, etc • Scope • information retrieval, categorisation and profiling • topic identification, summarisation, fact & feature detection and extraction... using language processing techniques (semantic analysis) • Applications (showcases) & longer-term research • Platform for international collaborations

Support • Specific KA3 support measures (III.5.1: fixed deadline): • Working groups on standards & best practice: specific to KA3 research areas • Virtual exhibitions & showcases: access to leading edge technologies • National focal points (HLT): speed up the deployment of research results … in addition to continuous scheme
