Jason and the Argonauts. Part I The Betrayal. Jason was from Iolcus (modern day Volos). His father was Aeson, King of Iolcus. Aeson was betrayed by Pelias (his half-brother). All of Aeson’s children were killed. Jason survived because he was born during the attack, and presumed still-born.

  7. Jason was raised, in hiding, by Chiron the centaur

  8. An oracle said one day Pelias would be overthrown
