  2. 2 Truths, 1 Lie • AIMSweb contains over 33 different assessment areas. • AIMSweb is designed to provide instruction to meet students’ needs. • AIMSweb is a subscription-based, online data management system.

  3. The AIMSweb Journey in UA… • IS at Jones needed data to help better understand how to place students – both in groups for reading instruction as well as the placement of the reading course vs. global language • Jones teachers worked together to pilot AIMSweb benchmarking. • They coupled benchmarking results with focused instruction and saw improved student achievement. • Jones worked with Hastings teachers to show them how this tool was beneficial and they began using it. • Today, students in grades 6-8 are given 2 benchmark assessments 3 times per year – used to group students for language arts instruction as well as placement in courses. • Students in 5th grade (for the past year or two – depending on the school) have been benchmarked to help with placement of incoming 6th graders.
