  2. Project Description Title: Module 3: Education Leaders Innovation Forum and Learning (ELIF) Target Group: Education Administrators and Practitioners Lead Center: SEAMEO RETRAC Timeline: Year 2014 -2015

  3. Overview of Module 3 • It is designed for education administrators and practitioners of primary, secondary, and tertiary education in Southeast Asia Region. • It focuses on innovative practices and approaches in teaching and learning. • It convenes two forums, in 2014 and in 2015. • Each forum has its focal theme and areas of focus.

  4. It develops 10 innovative solutions to ASEAN- wide issues in education and Human Resource Development (HRD). • It envisions of establishing a network for research and development of education innovation and building a culture of innovative teaching and learning among the education administrators and practitioners in the Southeast Asia Region for a more integrated ASEAN community. • It uses blended learning approach.

Objectives • To provide the education administrators and practitioners with the current best practices and innovative approaches to teaching and learning; • To set a venue for education administrators and practitioners to come together and identify key issues that they are faced with, and design innovative solutions, especially in the area of teaching and learning approaches through forums and online learning community; • To build a culture of creative and innovative approaches to teaching and learning among the education administrators and practitioners in the region for a more integrated ASEAN community. • To establish a network for education innovation among education administrators and practitioners in Southeast Asia Region

  6. Plan for Year 1, 2014 Activity: Forum 1 Theme: Innovations in Education: Innovative Approaches to Student Learning and Development in Southeast Asia Region

Focus Areas: • Life Skills and 21st Century Skills • Innovative teaching and learning methods, including the use of new education technologies • School and community innovation and good practices Dates: • Face-to-Face session June 22 – 26, 2014 • Online session July 2014 – December 2014 Venue: SEAMEO RETRAC, Vietnam

  8. Method Forum 1 employs a blended learning mode, a combination of face-to-face (f2f) and online learning sessions. • F2F learning session constitutes lecture/presentation and Q&A. Q&A will lead the participants to small group discussions enabling them to generate creative and innovative solutions of the identified key issues that education administrators and practitioners in the region are faced with. • Online learning session consists of 3 parts. Part 1 - a pre-forum engagement and preparation Part 2 - after the forum 1 f2f session (deepening forum 1 and linking forum 1 and forum 2) Part 3 – after the forum 2 f2f session ( deepening forum 2, and completion of the two 2 forums)

Benefits and added Value • Participants • Improved creativity and innovation in teaching and learning approaches in ASEAN context as they apply the knowledge and skills learned back in their own institutions • Developed the culture of creativity and innovation among education administrators and practitioners in SE Asia Region during the 2-year project implementation, and pass it on to their own community of educators

Established a network of education administrators and practitioners in the region for education innovation in ASEAN context • SEAMEO • Strengthened collaboration with SEAMEO Centers fulfilling its mission to continue building and developing human capacity in Southeast Asian Region • Made the SEAMEO College project materials available for use by the Region for integrated ASEAN community and beyond for globalized education
