  3. How can we help? Office of Veteran Services staff can match Employers with Veterans that are dependable, motivated, and skilled.

Local Veterans Employers Representative Work with Employers to help them create Veteran Hiring Initiatives Participate in Business Management meetings with Local Partners/Employers Submit information to staff regarding Veteran Friendly Employers and Openings at those Companies. Facilitate Job Fairs

  6. Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Representatives Work one on one to help Veterans to find employment Provide intensive service delivery, through case management to Veterans with employment barriers Provide Veterans with service and information on developing resumes’, interview upgrades, and labor market information

What does this Mean to You? • Money that your Company can save . . . and Make On the Job Training • Assistance to defer the cost of training a new person in a new job • Veterans Non-Competitive Appointment • Wisconsin Civil Service Law provides for the non-competitive appointment of certain disabled Veterans with 30% or more Service Connected Disabilities to certain positions. Veteran Employment Grant Program Employers can receive a State Grant of up to $10,000 over four years.

  15. Veterans’ Preference • By law, Veterans who are disabled or who served on active duty during certain specified periods are generally entitled to preference over non-Veterans both in Federal hiring practices and in retention during reductions in force.

  16. What is Veterans’ Preference ? • In recognition of the sacrifices made by those serving in the Armed Forces, Congress enacted laws to prevent Veterans seeking Federal employment from being penalized because of time spent in the military service.

  17. Priority of Service • Priority of service requires that our Veterans receive priority throughout the full array of services provided through the Job Center System. The purpose is to provide to Veterans and spouses of certain Veterans for the receipt of employment, training, and placement services.
