Guide to the invisible fence

Unlike any customized fencing, the invisible fence happens to be a very affordable replacement to the traditional fencing methods. Many neighborhoods have codes that may restrict the use of just any fence and in cases of a shared fence; it could create a problem too. The invisible fence is not only affordable but also effective, thus it may not be an issue amongst the neighbors to agree on it.

  1. Guide to the invisible fence An invisible fence is an underground wired fence made to restrict pets such as grown up dogs or puppies. This form of electronic fencing creates an invisible boundary and via a collar that is much like a dog collar, it is wrapped around the dog’s neck to prevent the dog from escaping the boundary. How does it function? The invisible fence has three important parts - collar, underground wiring, and transmitter. These components together are responsible for the functioning of the invisible fence. When any dog wearing the collar wanders close to a boundary, the collar acting as a receiver sounds an alarm. The transmitter that is set up either in a room or installed within the garage, transmits energy to the underground wire which exerts a mild electric charge to the dog if it wanders too close to the boundary. Features Unlike any customized fencing, the invisible fence happens to be a very affordable replacement to the traditional fencing methods. Many neighborhoods have codes that may restrict the use of just any fence and in cases of a shared fence; it could create a problem too. The invisible fence is not only affordable but also effective, thus it may not be an issue amongst the neighbors to agree on it. Functioning with the help of the three parts, the invisible dog fence is different in feature from other fences. Following are the features of the invisible fence – The charge This three parts and the battery-operated fencing system supplies an electric charge that varies with every dog depending on its weight. The equipment comes with detailed instructions as to what amount of electric charge should you set for the collar to receive and transmit to your dog in the form of shock. It is imperative to go for a charge that keeps your dog in check without negatively harming its confidence and well-being. Shock The shock delivered to the pet in the form of an electric charge, is not meant to be painful but irritating or surprising. The purpose of the invisible fence is to alert the dog and not frighten it. However, in case of a stubborn or a big-sized dog, a little more than a milder shock shall do the job. Static Correction Before exposing the dog to any electric shock, the fence tends to alarm the dog through an audible alarm tone. If the dog remains undeterred by this alarm, it is only then that a static correction is given to it. With practice and training, a better response from the dog towards the auditory signal can be achieved.

  2. Underground wiring The transmitter or the control panel delivers a radio signal to the underground wiring which creates a signal field or an invisible boundary which can be detected by the pet’s collar/receiver.
