  2. The ringed plover • Many wading birds common to British estuaries, such as the ringed plover, are declining in numbers.

  3. The ringed plover spends its summers in Scandinavia and used to migrate to Britain for the milder winters.

  4. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) have predicted that, by the end of this century, the average bird species distribution will have shifted nearly 550 km northeast and is also likely to be reduced. This may result in some birds declining in numbers or even dying out altogether.
