  2. A voice actor’s purpose • Actors use their imagination and creativity to interpret a script made by a scriptwriter. They wow audiences with their voices and abilities to bring emotion to any scene.

  3. What a voice actor needs • Many training periods are needed to hone a regular voice, but some people are simply born with the talent of a great voice. Talent usually helps, as the competition on voice acting is fierce. This career would be a possibility would be thanks to my natural voice being able to change to a multitude of pitches at will.

  4. The role • As a voice actor, one must research their role by looking at similar roles in the past. For example, if one were playing a villain, one might look to the genius villain Hanz Gruber and how he used his voice.

  5. The work environment • While voice acting may seem fun, sometimes jobs are few and far between. Patience is required in order to hone the craft of voice acting. In that way, one will get more and more job offers.

  6. Work hours • Voice actors tend to work long irregular hours in an attempt to find the perfect voice for each line. They are allowed water breaks to avoid dehydration and the like, but that’s about it.

  7. Education levels • The more education you have, the better. This pretty much goes for any job, but seeing as voice acting's’ only requirement is a talented voice, one only needs up to 4 years of college for a sturdy resume.

  8. Advantages and disadvantages • On one hand, Voice acting is a very fun activity, as you get to step out of the shoes of your everyday life and step into a new role. On the other hand, work is sporadic at best, and one would likely need a 2nd job to hold a steady income.

  9. Earnings • In a typical session, a voice actor would earn 500$ an hour for the first hour of recording, and around 350$ for each hour afterwards.

  10. Preparation • To prepare for this job, one must often train one’s voice. This can be done through such techniques as mimicry, where you listen to one person’s voice acting, and imitate them to the best of your ability.

  11. And that’s how you become a voice heard around the world!
