Brief History of FAEIS • Originally developed in 1983 with cooperation from the USDA. • Essential data used in planning, benchmarking, and reporting. • USDA uses these data for reports and in responding to inquiries from the Senate and the House. • Appropriations. • Managed by Texas A&M University from 1983-2000. • Paper-based format. • Virginia Tech began managing FAEIS in July 2002.
