Environmental Impact • Producing, storing and transporting food uses energy and resources • The equivalent to 1.7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide every year • If we stopped wasting food it would be the equivalent to taking 1 in 4 cars off the road • Food in landfill generates methane -one of the most harmful greenhouse gases

  8. Financial Impact • Scottish householders are throwing away £1 billion worth of good food and drink every year. • £430 per household per year • £550 per household with children per year • Savings of up to £35 a month
