  2. Subordinate Conjunction Jingle There Are Some Subordinate Conjunctions in the Town. After, Although, As, As much as, Because, Before, How, If, In order that, Inasmuch as, Provided, Since, Than, That, Though, Unless, Until, When, Where, Whether, While.

  3. Identifying Subordinate and Independent Sentences Identify the following sentences as S for Subordinate sentence or I for Independent sentence. DO NOT REWRITE THE SENTENCE. 1.) That we explored. 2.) The math student was confused. 3.) The couple sat in front. 4.) As soon as I heard a crash. 5.) Because it has some trees. 6.) Brown bats were living in the cave. 7.) Though you are captain of the team. 8.) The vet gave Bingo a shot and some antibiotic pills. 9.) Where my group sits in the library. 10.) Even though I try to avoid illness.

  4. Let’s Practice! Combine the two sentences to make them COMPLEX. Remember, a complex sentence occurs when you combine an independent sentence with a subordinate clause. Ex. Danny fed our new puppy/she slept peacefully. Complex- When Danny fed our new puppy, she slept peacefully. OR Danny fed our new puppy so that she slept peacefully. 1.) Our team will not win/we did not practice every day. 2.) The store closed/everyone went home. 3.)I ran to the window/I heard a crash.
