Preparing for theEnd of the Season HEAT andRain
Remind students • Avoid Puddles • Avoid running through water if possible. • Watch out for cups and banana peels.
What to wear to the starting line? Tell students to start looking for “throw away” clothes – Sweatshirts, raincoats, sweatpants etc. Wear to starting line, throw away once race starts Consider a flyer in the teacher’s mailboxes making requests for the above items
Bring Garbage Bags(they convert to throw-away raincoats) Marathon Goodie Bag might have a throw-away rain coat. Make sure the students bring it!!!!
Tights are recommended for cold rain(Not Sweats during race)
PARENTS and the Weather • Some will not allow students to run in the rain. Some will not allow their child to run in the heat. Consider a parent meeting before March 17. • Remind students and parents that the marathon is “Rain or Shine”
Grouping Runners Together • Safer • More motivational
