  2. About the Book • First released in Australia on May 5 2005.

  3. The Author • John Flanagan was born in Australia May 22nd, 1944. (Age 76) He is best known for the novel series Ranger’s Apprentice. Beforebecoming a novelist, John Flanagan did advertising and television commercials.

  4. Setting • Ranger’s Apprentice: The Burning Bridge is set in the land of Celtica.

  5. Main Characters • Will – The main character of all the books; Short, but also strong willed. • Halt – The mysterious ranger of the Redmont Fief • Horace – Large and Muscular boy, who is Will’s rival, but soon to be friend. • Gilan – Tall, friendly, and humorous ranger. • Evalyn – Short haired, green-eyed, couragous girl.

  6. Plot Summary • War is coming to the land, and Will, Gilan, and Horace are sent to Celtica to reinforce them. They come to a deserted city to find everyone dead except for one girl named Evalyn. Gilan goes ahead to go make a report to the king. Will, Evalyn, and Horace eventually come across a fissure that Morgarath is building a bridge across that would be a crucial strategic point in his invasion plans. Will and Evalyn burn the bridge but get captured by Skandians (Vikings) afterwards. The skandians leave Morgarath’s forces and start to return home with Evalyn and Will as their captives.

  7. My Rating • A very interesting book that kept me reading until the end. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good book. 4/4
