Session 3: Knowledge Management Outline • Brief review of national and regional goals • How national projects interpreted those goals and developed work plans • What kind of support package the IRTSC put together • Presentation of 3 country case studies • Plenary and group discussions • Preparation of individual country matrix

  3. Session 3: Knowledge Management Expected National Output (general) • Knowledge on adjusting national development processes to fully incorporate climate change risks and opportunities is generated and shared across all levels

  4. Session 3: Knowledge Management Activities identified and implemented by the group of AAP countries

  5. Session 3: Knowledge Management 1. Strategy on CCA knowledge • Assessment of on-going national CCA work and existing knowledge and needs; • Develop a national strategy on CCA knowledge generation and dissemination; • Design and implement a public awareness campaign; • Design and implement a national advocacy campaign.

Strengthen staff capacity • Promote a common understanding of KM; • Familiarize staff with KM tools and techniques; • Strengthen the capabilities of staff to produce KM products; • Strengthen the capability of staff to identify and use modern collaboration tools effectively; • Strengthen capacity to carry out inventories of traditional know-how;

  7. Session 3: Knowledge Management 3. Adapt existing knowledge platforms • Adopt UNDP’s ALM as the KM platform; • Support national staff at UNDP offices for the roll-out onto Teamworks; • Set up a CCA Knowledge Centre;

Disseminate knowledge and lessons learned • Prepare CCA information management guidelines; • Identify knowledge products best suited; • Create a national data base on adaptation practices; • Review and document case studies of demonstration projects and training programme; • Facilitate the hosting of intra- and inter-country visits and initiatives;

Communication strategy • Create and maintain a project web site/link • Develop and implement a rural oriented communication strategy; • Create a quarterly newsletter; • Conduct public broadcasts and announcements on local radio/TV and rural communication channels; • Package CCA knowledge for private sector businesses; • Document case and pilot approaches systematically and in an accessible format.

  10. Session 3: Knowledge Management AAP / IRTSC Knowledge Management goals Establish region-wide knowledge and learning mechanism to raise awareness, engage stakeholders, inform decision-makers and promote exchange and cooperation between countries

  11. Session 3: Knowledge Management An AAP regional support package was prepared, intended to : • Add value to country specific knowledge management activities • Ensure that the basic capacities to share knowledge will be created in the countries

Session 3: Knowledge Management ssistance to national programmes The AAP regional support was designed around : • Supporting elaboration of national KM strategies on CCA; • Strengthening capacity of national project staff and partners to capitalize on experiences; • Using knowledge sharing platforms to assist adaptation practitioners at the local, national and regional levels; • Disseminating national level climate change knowledge and lessons learned. • Providing technical assistance to national programmes
