  3. Theme • Don’t strive to be so different • Ex: Okonkwo wants to be a better man than his father.

Plot • Okonkwo is very well known and high in the rankings in his tribe because of a wrestling match • Gets an adopted son Ikemefuna and then kills him • Okonkwo and his family are exiled from the tribe • His son Nwoye went on his own path away from Okonkwo • White missionaries try to convert the tribe to their religion and Okonkwo doesn’t like that
