  3. Pathological changes in the ureter due to stone • Obstruction • Impaction: patient complains of dull pain • Infection • Ulceration

  4. Clinical features: symptoms • Ureteric colic • Fixed pain • Haematuria • Urgency & increased frequency of micturation • Nausea, vomiting

  6. Investigations CT scan without intravenous contrast demonstrating a left ureteral calculus

  7. Treatment • Conservative method • Percutaneous methods: ESWL & URS • Instrumental removal: • Ureteric catheterization • Dormia basket • Ureteric meatomy • Ureterolithotomy
