  9. FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT • Acts 24:25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, (self-control) and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

  10. FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT • Proverbs 25:28 He that hath no rule(self-control) over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. • Proverbs 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

  11. Defining “Self-Control” • Greek • Self-control - the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, especially his sensual appetites.

  12. FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT - Control • 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beats the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

  13. FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT - Control • Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

  14. Sacrificial Service & Self-Control Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Sacrificial Service & Self-Control 2 Samuel 24:24 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. NO COST- NO SACRIFICE

  17. Sacrificial Service & Self-Control Romans 6:20-21 20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. No Self-control when we are servants of sin

  18. Sacrificial Service & Self-Control Galatians 6:8 8 For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. No Self-control when one sows to his flesh

  21. Sacrificial Service & Self-Control 1 Peter 1:14-15 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; No Self-control when one continues in his former lust

  22. Through God We Can Have A Sound Mind! 2 Timothy 1:6-7 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. No Self-control without a sound mind

  23. The War For the Mind & Body 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. The world is after your mind - Self-control

  28. Fruit of the Spirit Is the complete package that displays us as legitimate sons of God God creates us to be: • a people elevated in love, joy and courage • a people powerfully good and compassionate • a people who are self-governing, sensible, dependable and restrained restrained

  29. Fruit of the Spirit • Romans 6:3-4 , 22 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
