  1. It’s time to RESEARCH a VIP (Very Important Person)!! This PowerPoint will walk you through the next three days in the lab!

  2. YOUR TASK • You will be choosing a person who was influential during the American Civil Rights Movement. Only 3 students can choose the same person/group. • Each day in the computer lab, you will focus on gathering information on one particular part of that person’s life using Cornell notes for organization. • Your research will be used on upcoming assignments (essay and presentation), so it is important to be detailed and thorough with your research.

Civil Rights Leader Research Day 1FAMILY HISTORY HW: Read 25 minutes and finish summary of Cornell Notes on Civil Rights Leader’s FAMILY HISTORY 1.Log in- GO TO MY WEB PAGE, CLICK ON 3rd quarter assignments, CLICK ON CIVIL RIGHTS POWERPOINT 2. Go to website http://www.biography.com/ and type your person’s name in the search box. Then, click on the link that says PEOPLE. You may also use http://www.notablebiographies.com/ . There you will find information. You may use additional websites (.org, .edu, .gov, or check with me if you find one) REMEMBER YOU MUST WRITE DOWN THE SITE! 3.Research about your leader’s family history using the following headings in the LEFT COLUMN of your Cornell notes: • Date and place of Birth • Mother and Father (who, occupations, etc.) • Brothers and Sisters • What type of family life? 4. Include at least one quote each day you research!!!!You must cite WHO said it. Here are examples: Website said it: According to [insert website], “[insert quote here].” Person said it: According to [insert Name], “[insert quote here].”

Include at least one quote each day you research!!!!You must cite WHO said it.
