  2. Grammar NotesIdentifying Others • There are certain norms for identifying and describing people • Point out the person and describe the most noticeable or distinguishing characteristics • Make sure your listener knows who you are talking about before you proceed

Identifying Others • Sign the “YOU SEE…” sign for a person that is in sight. • Then sign in this order with eyebrows raised • *Gender • Height • Body type • Color of hair • Hairstyle • *If characteristics that distinguish them from other describe it after GENDER i.e. glasses, jewelry clothing.

  4. Identifying Others • When your listener nods confirming description then continue with comments or questions. • If the person is not present then sign “YOU KNOW…” and continue as previous mentioned. • Video Examples

  9. Practice – Describing Others Worksheet • Pick one of the four faces, identify him/her with a brief description, then give one fact about them i.e. lives, work, etc. • Partner will write down the information on their sheet. • Proceed with the same procedures for the entire worksheet.
