  1. GRAFHAM WATER CENTRE • MONDAY 11TH NOVEMBER TO FRIDAY 15TH NOVEMBER • Aims: • Experience outdoor activities • Team build • Build self-esteem • Develop independence • Conquer fears!

  2. KEY TIMES • Please drop your child off with their luggage at 8:30am in the Y6 block. • Any medicines to be given to Mrs Jones in a labelled envelope with name and dosage. • We will leave school at 9:00am (you can wave us off on Queens Road). • On the Friday we will leave Grafham at 2:00pm and should arrive back at FJS at 4:15pm (if we’re running late we will send you a text message, so please ensure the school office has an up to date mobile phone number for you). • NO FOOD OR DRINK.

  3. KIT WARMTH DRYNESS EASE OF CARRYING • Everyone should have a kit list, if not please collect a copy at the end of this meeting. • Please ensure all kit is labelled. • The children need at least one change of clothing per day and this does not include evening wear. I would suggest a few extra jumpers, tracksuit bottoms, etc. • Slippers must be worn inside the building. The children also need dry and wet footwear, plus wellington boots. Extra socks may also be needed! • Waterproofs, along with gloves, scarf and hat. • Please provide a torch. • Bin bag for dirty clothes.

  4. Groups • I have already met with the children and ensure that they will be placed in a dorm with at least one person they would like to be with. • I will also ensure that the children are with one of their chosen people in their activity group. • These will be finalised this week and I will meet with the children to let them know their groups. • During the evenings the children and FJS staff will be together for activities.

  5. FOOD • Grafham works actively to promote a healthy lifestyle. • Each morning breakfast will consist of cereals, toasts and preserves, plus a cooked option. • During morning and afternoon activities the children will be provided with squash and either biscuits or raisins. • For lunch, a selection of freshly made rolls are provided along with a wide choice of salads, homemade soup, yoghurts and fresh fruit. • Dinner will be a choice of mains, including a vegetarian option, followed by dessert. • A vending machine is available in the evening providing the dorm groups have passed room inspection! (£5.00 max) • At bedtime hot chocolate is available. • NO NEED TO PROVIDE ANY FOOD OR DRINK.

  6. ACTIVITIES • The children will complete 3 activities per day, 2 with Grafham Water staff and 1 with FJS staff. • Grafham Water activities include: Bushcraft & Orienteering, Raft Building, Archery, Sailing, Mountain Biking (please let me know if your child cannot ride a bike), Canoeing, High Ropes & Low Ropes, Climbing. • FJS activities include: Problem Solving, Nightwalk, Film Night & Talent Show. There may also be the option to use the Hall for sporting activities.

  7. STAFFING Staff Present all week include myself, Mrs Lound, Mr Atkinson and Mrs Jones. Other adults attending, but sharing the week are: Ms Cook, Mrs Griffiths and Mr Grand.

  8. OTHER INFO • No mobile phones or anything operated by mains electricity. • Good behaviour expected at all times. • If you need to contact your child in the case of an emergency please phone FJS during school hours OR Grafham during out of school hours: 01480 810521. • If you haven’t handed in the completed medical form, please could you fill this in before you leave today.
