  2. Present Progressive(estar + present participle) “ to be +ing” What you are doing right now!

  3. Estar – to be (helping verb) Estoy Estás Está Estamos Estáis Están

  4. Present Participle • A present participle is formed by dropping the –ar and adding –ando or dropping –er/-ir and –iendo • Present Participle = “ing” Ejemplo: Hablar Hablando Beber Bebiendo Vivir Viviendo

  5. Present Progressive To form the present progressive you use the helping verb estar + the present participle. Ejemplo: Estoy cantando Estás estudiando Está escribiendo Estamos comiendo Estáis aprendiendo Están bailando

  6. Ejemplos Regulares: I am swimming – You are sunbathing- He is looking- We are seeing - You all are walking- They are selling-

  7. Stem-changing verbs (shoe verbs) don’t change if they end in –ar or –er. They do change if the verb ends in –ir from e-i or o-u.Ejemplo: sentir-sintiendomorir-muriendo

  8. The present participle of verbs ending in –eer is formed by replacing the –er with –yendo. Ejemplo: Leer leyendo

  9. Reflexive verbs in the present progressive. • When conjugating reflexive verbs in present progressive you may place the reflexive pronoun (me, te, se, nos, os, se) before estar or you may place the reflexive pronoun (me, te, se, nos, os, se) after the conjugation. Ejemplos: Lavarse Me estoy lavando las manos. Estoy lavándome las manos. Sentirse (i-e) Nosestamos sintiendo enfermos. Estamos sintiéndonos enfermos.
