  2. What is a Pocket PC? • Pocket PC is a handheld computer with a subset of the capabilities of a PC. • Fits in the palm of your hand • Provides the basic functionality that users need when they are traveling • Has a longer battery life than a notebook PC

  3. What’s it look like? • Offers 320 x 240 color display • Touch screen for data entry • Serial & usb sync port • CompactFlash and/or Secure Digital Card for secondary storage • Stereo headphone jack • Finger Joystick • 32 MB ram, 32MB rom, 206 mhz Intel StrongARM CPU

Pocket PC 2002 Architecture • Windows CE 3.0 based • Ram is divided between program and data storage and program execution space • Ram space and applications are automatically managed by the system • Does not run standard Windows applications • Multitasking – Allows you to run more than one application at once • Rom applications run from rom – they take very little ram to execute
