  2. Just facts • Prešov - metropolis of the largest Slovakregion.It is surrounded with Slánske Mountains, the Saris Upland and the Cergov Mountain range. The Torysa River flows through the town and it’s the most important affluent is the Sekčov River. The first written mention about Prešov comes from 1247 and it is the Deed of Ugrian King Belo IV. The awarding of municipalprivileges on January 28, 1299 by a ruler Andrew III. ranged Prešov among the important royal towns of the Ugrian Kingdom and thereby its further development has been influenced significantly.

  3. Bosák’s bank • Newer building from 20-ties of the 20. century is named after Michal Bosák. This ambitious young man, who was born in Okrúhle near Prešov left, as many others, at the end of 19. century to USA. Very quickly he became one of the most important American bankers. He owned, for instance, Bank of Europe in New Yorku or First National Bank. He is signed on the 10 dollars note. Michal Bosák was a personality who lately influenced also events in his country of origin. When he set the American – Slovak bank, one of its branches was placed in this house. It is situated on the corner of Hlavná and Levočská street. There are eight statues under the balconies, presenting four seasons of the year and also those wishing calm and peace, richness, thriftiness and science.

  4. TheNeptunsfontaine The statue is the oldest and most beautiful fountain in the city. Comes from 1789. It was built on the site of the original urban water reservoir - tank. As acknowledgment it had made Haličský Jewish businessman MarekHolländer for it, City Council authorized the establishment and business in Prešov. Until the time of Joseph II. may not be in Presov, in addition to time the markets, no Jews live. Statue of Neptune in trojzubcom, which is on an island surrounded by sea animals create Košický mason and sculptor Vincent Staviarska. Sculpture was completed in 1826.

  5. Gjar HISTORY • Our gymnasium was founded in 1961. Since that time, there have been several changes at our school. The predecessor of our present-day school was a general secondary school, which was situated in Svojdomov Street (now TarasaŠevcenka Street).
