The Waiting Game • Work with Dept of Labor & USCIS to secure US work authorization • Expedited processing = 8 wks • Regular processing = 4 – 6 mths • If scholar outside US, allow extra time for US Consulate visa stamp
Permanent Residence Two types of PR: • Members w/ Advanced Degree- preferred method- requires teaching duties + specific ad- unavailable for some countries • Outstanding Professor/Researcher- requires 3 yrs exp in field- burdensome to ee, but helps w/ P&T
