  1. Psalm 27:1-6 (NIV2011) 27:4  One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

  2. Why do I remain a Christian? Psalm 27:6

  3. A great question to meditate upon. It is especially important to give an answer in a time when almost no-one believes in Jesus Christ or God’s plan of salvation. In fact, the very idea that mankind has a problem with God, and that they might need Him to help is totally foreign to many people today.

  4. A great question to meditate upon. One way to make people think about the blessing of a life with the Lord is to give a real-world example of someone who has come out of the world and into His kingdom and stayed!

  5. I hope to do so today.

  6. Why do I want to be with the Lord forever and not go back into the ‘real’ world?

  7. Let us begin with why I ‘left’ the world. My greatest obstacle was the overwhelming influence of science & evolution during my high school years. As I was willing to conform and be a part of the crowd (& not smart enough to challenge science), I simply accepted what I was told. I also had no spiritual support of any lasting kind to help me navigate through those confusing times.

  8. When I finally started to think! I began to look closely at what I was taught and discovered that no-one could prove evolution (nor could I). What I did learn was that everybody ’believed’ it was true and took it on ‘faith’ that the experts were right.

  9. That’s when it dawned on me, if evolution can be believed and taken on faith, so could creation and a creator!

  10. I put equal effort into seeking God. Once I compared the word to creation I knew that the only answer to our origins was a creator! Romans 1:20 (NIV2011) Ro 1:20 (NIV2011)  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

  11. Once my eyes were opened, the choice was obvious. (Acts 2:38)

  12. Once my eyes were opened, the choice was obvious. (Acts 2:38) That was the beginning of my relationship with Jesus and though not always smooth (like marriage), not one I have ever regretted.

  13. It is that relationship which helps me to ‘remain a Christian’.

  14. Over my life time I have had many experiences with faith, but here are a few reasons that may explain why I remain with Christ.

  15. The price of my salvation. I learned over time, to have a deeper appreciation of the ‘cost’ of my salvation. I weighed up my life against that of a sinless saviour and was ashamed. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY

  16. The price of my salvation. Thanks to Him I now know true forgiveness and freedom. Thanks to Christ I have experienced compassion, mercy and grace! This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-ND

  17. The price of my salvation. Christ’s sacrifice in my place has given me a true and clear understanding of my value to the Father as a precious soul! 1 Peter 1:18-19 (NASB) 1Pe 1:18 (NASB)  knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19  but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

  18. His love His love has been the greatest gift of all and not just because of the emotional stability He brings, but because of the most important character trait He presents with His love – it is His patience with me. 1 Corinthians 13:4 (NASB) 1Co 13:4 (NASB)  Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,

  19. His love His love has shown me how even the most evil and unlovable person can receive a love that can transform their lives – if they are willing to accept it.

  20. His love His love has shown me how to treat my brethren & my neighbours. Love thy neighbour Mat 22:37-40

  21. I know who I am! Thanks to Jesus and my adoption as a child of God, I know who and what I am. I don’t suffer from an identity crisis as an orphan. I am His & He is mine. I am both His friend & willing servant. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA-NC

  22. Therefore my future is certain! Philippians 3:20 (NASB) Php 3:20 (NASB)  For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

  23. So, do you know why you are still a Christian?
