This study evaluates REM density by analyzing total REM episodes relative to REM sleep duration. We propose a function that quantifies the frequency of eye movements during REM sleep, calculated as the number of movements per hour of REM sleep. Understanding these metrics can provide insights into the quality of sleep and the underlying mechanisms of REM sleep, ultimately contributing to better sleep health and treatment methods for sleep disorders.
