  1. The CMA CPI By: Anthony Addison, Jerry Ogg, Dan Lowry, and Jaspal Sohal

  2. Consumer Price Index; CMA CPI- measures the cost in that period of a standard basket of goods and services relative to the cost of the same basket of goods and services in a fixed year, called the base year. In this case the base is the month of September and November and the second period is the month of December. CPI= Cost of base-year basket of goods and services in current year, divided by the cost of base-year basket of goods and services in base year.

  3. How We Got Our Numbers Survey given to a total of fifty CMA cadets who presently live in the upper resident hall at CMA. Survey was given to both males and females. Also by asking questions to cadets randomly throughout the two periods and recording their information.

  4. Comparative CPI's 1st period CPI 4,757 2nd period 4,546.9 Equation = current year /base year 4,757/4,546.9 = .95

  5. Reasons for decrease in CPI Students buy less school supplies Gas prices fluctuated down for this period of time Students try to budget there money

  6. Sources of Error Tuition Book fees Alcohol Only 50 students were surveyed in the upper residents hall Lower residents, students that live on the ship, and students off campus were not surveyed Human error Students that lied on the survey (we known who you are!) Too short of a time span for adequate average for spending

  7. 1st period vs. 2nd period basket goods
