  2. The New Moon The new moon happens when the moon is between the sun and earth so we see no moon at all.

  3. Waxing Crescent Moon The waxing crescent moon occurs when after a few nights when a crescent-shaped moon appears.

  4. First Quarter Half Moon The first quarter half moon occurs when each night a little more than the other night moon appears. The moon is “waxing”.

  5. Waxing Gibbous ¾ Moon The waxing in the waxing gibbous moon means to increase or grow. Gibbous means ”hump”.

  6. Full Moon The full moon happens at the end of two weeks , when the moon is round and full. The moon and the sun are on the opposite sides of earth.

  7. Waning Moon ¾ The waning moon happens when the moon continues to revolve around earth. Each night the light reflection of the moon grows smaller.

  8. Last Quarter Half Moon The last quarter half moon means the moon is “waning”. Waning means to grow smaller or decrease.

  9. Waning Crescent Moon The Waning Crescent Moon happens when the third week passes , the Moon again looks crescent-shaped.
