  3. Canadian Virtual Health Library Vision To support equitable access to high-quality health information resources for all Canadian health professionals to improve health outcomes and patient safety. Mandate and Goal: Access for ALL Canadian health professionals

  4. A Network of Networks • Equitable access for all Canadian healthcare professionals • High quality, evidence-based resources • Through collaboration, costs are minimized, access maximized • Discounts if all consortia work together to create a single license 12/22/10 4

Take Home Key Messages • CVHL is a network of networks. • The infrastructure of existing networks and consortia is essential to the operations of the CVHL. • Through national coordination efforts, costs are minimized and access is maximized. • CVHL will coordinate additional library services such as identifying, organizing and managing non-licensed resources while maintaining each library or library consortia’s brand and providing referral services back to local libraries. • CVHL will not disrupt existing consortia and network business models and practices. • The initial development of CVHL is funded by a three year grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). This grant does not cover funding for licensed content. • The CVHL vision is to achieve equitable access to quality, vetted information for all Canadian health professionals through a sustainable business model. 12/22/10 15
