Immerse students in academic text while balancing choice and curriculum. Making personal connections to reading supports motivations, comprehension, and success! Students need to want to read to be successful readers. Students need the power of choice to "buy-in" to reading. Engage/teach students to understand the importance/utility of readers. Choice and identifying essentials guide reading – help struggling readers. Secondary sustained silent reading with accountability plus close critical reading. Close & critical reading is examining the text in a 4-square. Find ways to motivate students to read. Reading is life. Close and critical reading is very beneficial for informational texts. Connect different Reading Apprenticeship activities to further foster deeper learning. Awesome! Intriguing. Inspiring. Relatable to district-wide initiatives. Joy is the 11th word.
