What is the technology and what does it do? • The iPad2 is a mobile computing device, which has been described by some as a cross between the iPhone and a MacBook laptop. • The iPad is only a half-inch thick, and weighs only 1.5 pounds. • The device itself is around 9.5-inches tall and 7.5 inches wide - for comparison's sake, slightly smaller than a standard sheet of printer paper. The touchscreen itself, which responds to finger gestures, measures 9.7 inches diagonally, and has an LED-backlit glossy display. • Unlike most laptops, which in addition to WiFi cards have a hardwired "ethernet" port to connect to the Internet with a wire, the iPad lacks such a port, relying solely on access to a WiFi signal (or cellular signal, for 3G-enabled models) to connect to the Web. All models also have Bluetooth capability built in.

  5. iPad 1 vs. iPad2 • Speed: The iPad 2 includes a faster chip than the first iPad — Apple's new dual-core A5 processor — which is meant to enhance its overall performance and graphics capabilities. • Thickness: The iPad 2 is noticeably thinner than the previous version of the tablet, at 8.8 millimeters, or about a third of an inch, rather than the previous 13.4 millimeters. It also has a more rounded back than the original iPad. • Weight: While the first iPad weighed around 1.5 pounds, the iPad 2 weighs closer to 1.3 pounds. • Cameras: The newest iPad includes two cameras for shooting pictures or video chatting — one on the back that can also record videos in 720p resolution and a lower-resolution one on the front. The iPad 2 will include Apple's FaceTime video chat software.

My Opinon: Will it be succesful? • In my opinion the iPad 2 is already successful just from how well the original iPad did selling 15 million in the first 9 months after being released. • The iPad 2 has only improved on the success of the iPad, improving the thinness, weight, integration, beauty — and even including more apps. • As well as being a extremely useful and well designed product, Apple itself has a cult like following which alone should insure the product producing an extreme amount of revenue for Apple.
