  2. Call to Worship Just as the tongues of fire rested on the heads of the disciples... ...fill this place with your Spirit, O Lord. So that every knew should bend and every tongue confess... ...that Jesus Christ is Lord. Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.   8. Confession & Forgiveness Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves.   9. Confession & Forgiveness We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.   10. Confession & Forgiveness In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the ☩ Son, and of the Holy Spirit.   16. Prayer of the Day The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. God our creator, the resurrection of your Son offers life to all the peoples of earth. By your Holy Spirit, kindle in us the fire of your love, empowering our lives for service and our tongues for praise, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.   18. Psalm 104:24-34, 35b 24 How manifold are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. 25 Yonder is the sea, great and wide, with its swarms too many to number, living things both small and great. 26 There go the ships to and fro, and Leviathan, which you made for the sport of it. 27 All of them look to you to give them their food in due season.  Worship leader reads regular print, congregation responds with bold print.

  32. Prayers of Intercession Trusting God’s promise of new life, we pray for the renewal of the church, the world, and all of creation. Each petition concludes: Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great. Offering We respond to God’s grace by offering what God has first given us so that the good news of Jesus may continue to be proclaimed through the ministries of Heart of Illinois Lutheran Parish.   36. Offering Prayer Let us pray. Risen One, as you broke bread with the disciples on the shore, meet us now in this meal.   37. Communion The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

  38. Communion In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

  39. Communion Gathered as one in the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us: Our Father, who art in heaven,hallowed be thy name,thy kingdom come,thy will be done,on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;and forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive thosewho trespass against us;and lead us not into temptation,but deliver us from evil.   41. Communion Distribution As we receive the bread and cup today, we receive grace upon grace from Jesus: forgiveness, new life and salvation. Come and hold your hands out and receive God’s goodness with the holy word of thanks: “Amen!”

  43. Prayer after Communion Let us pray. Living God, you have greeted us in our brokenness and nourished us with the body of Christ, broken for us.
