Welcome to Fourth Grade! • We will focus on an overview of your child’s life in the 4th grade. • A little about Mrs. Boone, Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Jones, and Mrs. Faulkenberry • Please write any questions on an index card and turn it in to one of the teachers if we did not have an opportunity to answer it during our time together.

3. Classroom Goals • To be part of a POSITIVE classroom community. • To reach academic and social levels to be prepared for 5th Grade and Middle School.

4. Co-TeachingWhat does it look like? • Involves two or more teachers with equal status sharing a classroom. • Includes purposeful instruction – both teachers actively engaged. • Takes place in the general education classroom. • Provides opportunities for differentiated instruction.

13. Fourth Grade Policies and Procedures “One of most common mistakes parents make, is to want to make everything easy for their children. It’s painful for parents to see their children struggle. 14. Homework • 40 minutes of homework may be assigned nightly, not including • Reading nightly • Studying for a test • Completing a project • Quality not quantity • Homework is not completed for a subject grade, but it is part of the work/study grade on the report card. Students will go to study hall to complete what was not completed for homework.

15. Classwork • Classwork should be completed when assigned (including morning work). • Additional time may be given throughout the day. • Cursive/print • Unfinished classwork will be marked in the agenda. • All classwork can be collected for a grade. • Late work may be accepted, but only for partial credit.

BYOD/iPad classrooms • BYOD • Devices allowed: i-Touch, any tablet device, i-Pad mini, no phones or DS’s allowed • Must be able to access the internet (BYOD Cobb County wireless) • More information at parent meeting~Tuesday, August 20th at 6:30 in the Café. • iPad Pilot • Remain at school and in Mrs. Boone/Mrs. Ryan’s Room • May be used during Specials • Preapproved Apps and Projects • Electronic Portfolio

18. A few things… • School starts at 7:50 AM and instructional time begins at 8:00. • Students must check in at the school office before coming to class if they arrive after that time. • No checkout after 2:00-per the office • Send in a note after an absence. • Cobb County has a policy for absences/tardies. • 5, 10, 15 • You may send in birthday snacks. • Make sure attire is appropriate • Check the website weekly for information • Make sure your child is reading almost everyday • Hat Day- every Friday-$0.50
