Writing • Cite evidence to support writing. • 6 Trait Writing • Write clear, organized 5-paragraph essays, both expository and argumentative. • Write narratives (both fiction and non-fiction). • Grammar and Spelling (pronouns, Greek and Latin roots, affixes, sentence structures, and other assessed individual areas of need)

  4. Speaking and Listening • Prepare for and participate in class and group conversations and collaborations. • Gain experience talking in front of a group

  5. Grading: 6th Grade Language Arts Grade Book: Test/Essays/Projects = 50% Classwork/Daily Work = 40% Homework/Participation= 10%

  6. KEY to Skyward Computer Grade Program: NC no count: We use this feature to enter assessments and data that we want to share and keep track of but that do not count toward the students’ grade. ABS Absent: Student was absent at the time the assignment was due and needs to turn in the assignment as soon as they return to school or follow the make-up work procedures. 0 zero: Student did not hand in the work. MS Missing: Work is missing and not handed in on time. * not entered: A star that means we have not yet corrected it or have not entered the grade into the computer. If your child is really missing an assignment it will list a points possible score and their score will be a zero with a check under missing column. I will also write a reason why the assignment is missing in the comments section.
