This study quantifies fingerprint quality by employing a Relative Contrast Index (RCI). The RCI is calculated using the log10 of the reflection values of the ridges and valleys in fingerprints, enabling an objective assessment of quality. Various methods, including Ninhydrin treatment and Amido Black, are used to enhance and analyze fingerprints. The findings demonstrate significant variations in quality dependent on treatment methods, providing valuable insights for forensic science applications. This method enhances the accuracy of fingerprint analysis in criminal investigations.

The contrast index contrast index คือ: contrast index = log10 (V/R) V คือ ค่าการสะท้อนแสงของช่องว่างของลายนิ้วมือ R คือ ค่าการสะท้อนแสงของเส้นนูนของลายนิ้วมือ
Ninhydrin treatment The ninhydrin formulation contained0.4%(w/v)ninhydrin, 0.8%(v/v)acetic acid, 1.6%(v/v)ethanol and5%(v/v)isopropyl alcohol in92%(v/v) Forane 141B(1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane)
Amido black treatment Blood mark 100%methanol for15min Stain solutionfor3min
Washing solutionA which contained10% Acetic acid in methanol Washing solutionB containing5%acetic acid in distilled water Rinsed in distilled water
Physical developer treatment The physical developer working solution contained 5%silver nitrate solution(20%,w/v) and95%redox solution The redox Solution comprised3%(w/v)ferric nitrate,8%(w/v)ferrous ammoniumsulfate 2%(w/v)citric acid and4%(v/v) detergent surfactant stock solution in water
